Procrastination: Public enemy number #1 to achieving greater results in our lives

How often do you experience procrastination in your life?

How often do you find yourself feeling overwhelmed with everything that needs to be completed in your life, so instead of working on your “to do” list, you say to yourself, “I’ll get to this later,” then head right over to the TV or begin wondering the internet to “relax” or “decompress,” all while the to do list get bigger and bigger…

If your like the average human being on this planet, you’ve probably given in to procrastination more than a few times in your life (and that’s being conservative!)

Procrastination has most likely robbed your life of countless awesome experiences with money, time, health, and connection with the ones you love.

It may have even given you the experience of dealing with guilt, shame, and self criticism.

How many times have you beat yourself over that one thing that you should have done?  Or maybe you have dealt with sleepless nights because you just couldn’t forgive yourself for not taking action when the right opportunity was there for the taking.

If procrastination can devastate our lives so easily, why do we do it again and again and again??

Why do we often find ourselves putting off doing the things we know will improve our lives (ie, exercise, eating healthy, calling that business contact, etc etc etc) and end up settling for those things that steal our improvement, progress, and happiness?

If you have ever asked yourself this same question, I have a very simple answer for you.  It’s all about your comfort zone.

All of us have a set comfort zone where we like to be, whether that be with our careers, our relationships, our health, even with money

There are two types of people in this world when it comes to comfort zones:

  1. Those who like to stay in their comfort zone, never really progressing in life, never really experiencing the things that they REALLY want to experience.  These people tend to make excuses for why life is happening to them instead of for them. These people tend to blame others for the reason why they aren’t experiencing life they way they would love to experience it.  These people usually find themselves saying, “I’m fine with what I have, I never really wanted so and so anyways.”
  2. Those who step out of their comfort zone, everyday, because they know that this is what will get them to their goals and this is where they will experience life at the fullest.  These people tend to take any excuse or blame that comes into their minds and turn it around to be a lesson or a full out reason for staying focused on getting what they want out of life, these people usually find themselves saying, “I’m am ready to transform my life and do whatever it takes to get to (fill in the outcome)”

This question may sting a bit when answered truthfully, but what group are you in?

If you happen to be one of those that is ready to do whatever it takes to get your goal and win, then the next question I have for you is what are you going to do about it???

Taking action right this moment could mean the difference of winning big and playing small.  Taking action on that one thing that has been on your mind for days, weeks, months could mean the difference between finally getting that goal you have been going after to settling for what life just keeps handing to you over and over again.

Beating procrastination isn’t easy and taking dauntless action doesn’t always make sense at the moment, but oh is it worth it!!!

If you have been procrastinating at ANYTHING in your life, make the commitment to stop it RIGHT NOW!!  The best way to make that commitment is to get off your butt and get to work. Take action RIGHT NOW as your first step to committing to never procrastinate again.  Take action, no matter how big or small that action may be, but do it NOW.

When are you going to commit to stop procrastination?  Do it NOW!!!

I know that it takes guts to step out of your comfort zone.  Sometimes it takes accountability and support to do so. That’s what a mentor is for, that’s what I am here for.  I’m here for you. I’m going to follow up in the next few days and find out what action or actions did you take that you have been procrastinating on.  You better believe I am holding you accountable to your goal and your dreams.

That’s doesn’t mean that I want your goal or dream more than you do, because that would be a disservice to you and your journey.   I want to see you succeed and come out victor in the end, but ultimately, you have to take action and you have to do it now if you are ever going to move forward with your life, whether that be with your income, your health, or your relationships.

So what action step are you going to take today to look into the face of procrastination and say, “Looks Who’s In Charge Now!!!”
